The open-air museum Gammelgården is beautifully nestled in the forest at the top of Majberget in Bengtsfors. You are welcome to wander freely in the area among all our old houses. It is a relaxing and cozy environment to stay in. Adjacent to the open-air museum there are several hiking trails, lakes and barbecue areas.
The museum consists of more than 20 buildings. They are witnesses from a bygone era and have many interesting stories to tell. Here you will find the grand farmer's stately dwelling house and the crofter's simple cottage, a soldier's cottage and a miller's cottage as well as several different workshops and economy buildings.
You can visit he open-air museum all year round. The houseas are closed off-season but it is a nice area to visit at all seasons. During the summer, you sometimes have the opportunity to look into the houses and learn more about how people lived in the past. It is also possible to book guided tours.
